The Ministry of Communications & IT informs that the minister has ordered the timely execution of the Plan. No other details are given, but it is indicated that the departmental plan is based on the requirements of the "Action Plan in connection with announcement of 2013 the Year of Information & Communication Technologies in the Azerbaijan Republic", endorsed by the country’s president in March.
According to the plan, during the year the Ministry of Communications & IT is to prepare ICT Development Strategy. The Ministry is also tasked to ensure conformity of tariffs for communication and Internet services to their net worth. This work should be carried out together with the Tariff (Price) Council.
The MCIT and the Ministry of Justice should also ensure expansion of the use of domain zone “.az” and improve the process of registration of domain names. Together with the State Committee on Statistics the Ministry should also improve the statistics on the ICT sector in line with international experience.
