Azerbaijan is likely to begin issuing mobile electronic signatures by the end of 1st quarter of 2013.

The Ministry of Communications & IT of Azerbaijan reports that at present the Center for Certification Services is working to ensure safe access to portal E-Government from smartphones and other mobile devices. In the 1st quarter of 2013 the citizens will be able to use mobile authentication and the use of services available on the portal.

Earlier, in accord with the MCIT approved action plan, the launch of this system is scheduled for January or February 2013.

The Ministry’s specialists consider that this innovation will increase the access of citizens to the many e-services.

“The procedure for issuing mobile e-signatures has not been defined, but most likely there will be no need to address directly to the operator on issue of e- signature, and the code will be issued in a way of identification of a mobile number. Today, work on database of mobile phone numbers is at stage of completion that will make easier the process of issuing mobile e-signatures, as the database reflects the passport details of the owner of phone number,” the Ministry emphasized.

Specialists think that to date it has been introduced a whole range of e-services, ASAN service, and provision of mobile e-signature will allow even more people to use these services.
