Azercosmos spokesperson Nigar Madatli says that position on 43.2, 58.5 and 96 degrees east longitude was allotted for placing the first Azerbaijani satellite Azerspace-1, Fineko reports.
"The satellite will be equipped with three beams aimed at Europe, Asia and Africa to enable the country to act as a transit country for broadcasting channels. In order to ensure satellite coverage in countries of Europe and Asia the Ministry applied to the ITU on the occasion of orbital positions 43.2, 58.5 and 95.9 east longitude for placement of national satellite Azerspace-1 on unscheduled band. In this regard, according to the existing procedural rules, the MCIT conducts coordinating work with a number of countries recommended by the ITU,” she informed.
Earlier the MCIT reported that Azerbaijan should coordinate the degree of orbital position location of the national satellite network with 30 countries. Coordination of national satellite position is carried out to prevent future occurrence of interference to adjacent satellites. According to the ITU, this process should last for 7 years.
Azerbaijan intends to use for its own needs only 20% of the satellite capacity, the rest will be offered for rent to other countries, in particular, 40% of the satellite’s capacity will be rented by Malaysia.
Qualitative radio broadcasting, IP, VPN and other data services will be forecasted after launch of first national satellite on the territory of the entire country, including Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Besides, it is also provided control over sent information, creation of ideal platform for distance education and electronic health, telecommunication protected by encryption technologies, and a possibility of rapid response to potential danger.
