Azerbaijan and Estonia have an opportunity to continue the cooperation in creating "electronic government", Azerbaijani Deputy Communications and IT Minister, Mammadov Iltimas said at the Estonian-Azerbaijani business forum in Baku on Friday.

"The development of information technology and satellite launch creates great opportunities for cooperation with other countries, including with Estonia. A good example of this cooperation is the creation of the most important link of "electronic government" - its electronic portal by the Estonian company Subernet together with local companies," Mammadov said.

According to Estonian Economy and Communications Minister Juhan Parts, yesterday the first meeting of the intergovernmental commission was held, which is a good platform for the development of business relations.

"The ICT is the sector with the greatest potential. It is important to create start-up enterprises in ICT and other sectors in Azerbaijan," he said.

Mammadov said various industrial sectors, including shipbuilding sector, are interesting areas for cooperation.

"We should not forget about agriculture and tourism. Today the entire world is looking for new transport links, which creates good opportunities for countries such as Estonia and Azerbaijan," Parts said.

He said the trade turnover between the two countries now hits 20 million euros, and there are mutual investments. However, these figures are small.

The business forum is organized by the Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce.
