The Azerbaijani Ministry of Taxes intends to continue implementing the e-government projects in 2012 and to achieve significant changes in the short term prospect, Deputy Minister of Taxes Sahib Alakbarov said in an interview posted on the website of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party on Saturday.

"We have such challenges as the formation of an effective economy focused on the innovation, as well as the implementation of effective tax policy in connection with Azerbaijan's transition to the new stage of development," he said.

He said that tax terminals are planned to be transformed into service centers to expand the use of electronic services, as well as the range and scope of services rendered to taxpayers. Today, about 30 terminals operate in the country. Their transformation will be completed in 2012.

"The operations are planned to be held to use an electronic audit this year," he said. "It is planned to solve a number of legal, technical and organizational issues to ensure introducing the project in 2013."
