The Ministry of Communications & IT is improving the legal framework in the field of information and communication technologies of Azerbaijan.

Today in Baku at the International Conference on Telecommunications & IT deputy communications minister Elmir Velizadeh has informed that Azerbaijan’s legislation in the field of ICT needs to be improved, and particularly it concerns legislative regulation of e-government.

"The framework law used as the basis of drafted legislative acts in the field of ICT is the Law on Information (on access to information). On the basis of this law there are created new legislative acts aimed at regulating processes and procedures, implied by the e-government system," he noted.

According to Velizadeh, future plans include development of digital economy and e-commerce with use of digital signatures in the country.

"All these new types of activities are included in the State E-Government Program and reflected in the Bill on E-Government. In general, within the program it is planned to introduce 300 public e-services, of which 49 have been already presented by 10 ministries connected to e-government portal," he emphasized.
