In the National Survey on ICT carried out by National Information Technology Authority (NITA) - Uganda last year, statistics show that government is still doing bad in using E-government systems with only 14% nationals not satisfied with the current ICT standards in the country.

The survey carried out by Earnest and young research company in 20 districts and all government institutes shows that only 37% of Government staff have computers to do work and of these only 38% get internet.

Speaking at the release of the survey, the ICT Minister Ruhakana Rugunda calls upon stakeholders to critically strategize on how to improve the alarming ICT status in the country saying that government will do all that is possible to see that it brings technology close to the public to save them time wasted in long queues paying for different services.

Meantime, the Executive Director NITA-U James Saaka is concerned that most government institutions are conservative at sharing data through ICT and work in isolation which delays delivery of services.
