A pilot project of e-government is being carried out in Armenia's Foreign Ministry under the a European Union assistance programme.

According to Antony Jagus, Programme Director in charge of the implementation, the initital project will be finished by the end of 2005. Following successful implementation the model will be deployed throughout the whole Armenian government. The project creates a single government network, computerising paper-based procesess, and retraining government users. Following a successful trial of issuing visas electronically, the Foreign Ministry is linking up with the Justice Ministry to issue 'no previous conviction' e-certificates for those seeking jobs abroad. To accomplish this project the two ministries will sharte a unified information network, the first of its kind within Armenia's public sector.
