Transforming Government since 2001

Authorities in Hanoi’s Cua Nam Ward have launched a pilot programme providing free public wifi, branded CuaNamFreeWifi, at tourist sites and public spaces across the ward.

The initiative aims to help visitors access information, maps and cultural or culinary destinations more easily, while supporting the capital’s transition toward a modern, smart city.

According to ward authorities, public wifi is a key task in the locality’s digital-transformation agenda and an important tool for promoting the area to domestic and international visitors.

During the pilot phase, free wifi is available at five high-traffic locations: the Hanoi Opera House, the 19/8 Flower Garden, the French-era villa at 46 Hang Bai, 19/12 Book Street and the Hoa Lo Prison historical site.

The pilot runs from December 1, 2025 to February 2026. During this period, the ward will assess signal quality, user volume, coverage and satisfaction levels to refine the model.

Based on the findings, Cua Nam Ward plans to expand the free wifi network to residential areas, community locations, heritage sites and major streets.

The expansion aims to provide residents and visitors with faster, safer and more convenient access to information, while reinforcing Cua Nam’s image as a smart, modern and welcoming destination in the capital.
