The smart platforms Hue-S of Thua Thien-Hue province and Danang Smart City of Da Nang City have been integrated with data and maps about the positions of free toilets in the cities.
The deputy director of the Da Nang Information and Communications, Tran Ngoc Thach, said the people’s committees of districts in the city have joined forces with the Hai Chau district’s Business Association and deployed the public toilet model with the slogan “Comfort like at home".
This has left a good impression about a friendly, hospitable Da Nang, believed to be the most livable city in Vietnam
Since early 2023, the people’s committees of the districts of Hai Chau, Son Tra and other localities have continued to develop the model with the participation of more businesses, restaurants, hotels and eateries. To date, more than 300 business establishments have responded.
In order to better serve travelers, since early June 2023, the Da Nang Information and Communications Department has integrated the data about the positions of community toilets into Danang Smart City in the form of a map.
Currently, people and travelers can search on the app 294 positions of community toilets, including 228 in Hai Chau district and 66 in Son Tra. The number will continue to increase in the time to come.
Danang Smart City is a multi-service and utility integrated application that has been approved by the Da Nang City People's Committee and put into use since 2020. There have been 1.2 million downloads. The app provides a wide variety of services, utilities and information to people and visitors to Da Nang.
To seek community free toilets on Danang Smart City, users just need to open ‘WC cong dong, mien phi’ on the app, choose the areas where there are free toilets near the users. They will see necessary information, such as the names of establishments allowing use of toilets for free, addresses, and the distance from their positions to toilets. Danang Smart City is integrated with the function of showing the way to users to reach the nearest toilets.
The Da Nang Information and Communications Department said it has requested district localities in the city to persuade businesses, hotels and restaurants to share toilets with the community and provide information. There are always staff ready to update information.
In Hue City, since mid-April 2023, just before the opening of the Hue 2023 Traditional Craft Festival, Hue-S, a smart urban app of Thua Thien-Hue province, integrated the ‘nha ve sinh’ (toilet) function for tourists.
To date, 327 free toilets on 163 streets have been integrated on the Hue-S app.
