Addressing the opening session of the Vietnam e-Government Symposium in Ho Chi Minh City, Nhan spoke about the development of Vietnam’s software industry and the realization of e-Government over the next decade.
He noted that from 2007-2010, the focus has and will be on applied information and communication technology (ICT) to build up electronic portals and enhance government agencies’ administration in serving people and entrepreneurs.
He said several applied-ICT works have shown positive results in key cities including HCMC, Hanoi and Da Nang, but this was happening on a limited scale.
IT experts and representatives from more than 40 provincial telecom departments at the symposium discussed ways to realize e-government, including choosing appropriate IT solutions and starting small-scale projects to avoid risks.
Last year, Vietnam was placed 91st among a total of 192 countries and territories in the United Nations’ eGovernment rankings.
