Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan said at a meeting Friday that the Ministry of Information and Communications should concentrate on promoting IT applications in government administration and setup e-government from central administrations downwards.
He urged the ministry to collaborate with the Ministry of Education and Training in creating high quality training for the information and communications industry, as well as providing internet access to schools nationwide.
He also wanted the ministry to develop the VINASAT-1 satellite and prepare for future orders.
The ministry should improve the country’s IT industry, especially the software industry, and offer better management of and direction in the press and publishing, he said.
The ministry held the meeting to discuss its agenda for the year.
