The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), on March 5, organized a conference seeking advice from IT leading experts for the development of e-government.

Vietnam’s top IT experts attended the event. Among them were famous names, such as Prof. Dang Huu, former Deputy Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Dr. Mai Liem Truc, Prof. Chu Hao, Dr. Do Xuan Tho (Chairman of the Vietnam Information Processing Association), PhD. Bach Hung Khang, and Pham Thien Nghe (Secretary General of the HCM City Computer Association).

Experts contributed opinions on and experiences with implementing, improving and advancing e-government in Vietnam. Minister of Information and Communications Le Doan Hop organized opinions into ten urgent goals.

The aim is to renovate the working style of the government and reform public administrative services and information resource management. The country aims to bring 50% of activities of State agencies online, for 100% of State agencies to have websites and 30% of companies reporting their operations online; as well as developing a high speed network linking central and local agencies.

The MIC will organize a similar meeting with foreign consultants on March 22. In late April, the Ministry will finalize and submit its Scheme on IT application in State agencies and e-government development to the Government.
