The Decree on the framework for the provision of eGovernment services was published in the Official Government Gazette on 27 April 2012.

Signed by the Deputy Minister for Administrative Reform and Electronic Governance Pantelis Tzortzakis, the decree implements the provisions of the Law on Electronic Governance; it also adjusts the principles under which the online public services operate in order to achieve economies of scale for the benefit of the institutions while facilitating the citizens' access to these services.

The Decree on the framework for the provision of eGovernment services includes:

  • Rules and standards for the design, development and operation of Public Administration websites.
  • Principles for the implementation and development of information systems of public administration and delivery of integrated electronic services from public bodies.
  • Rules and standards for interoperability on organisational, semantic and technological levels and for exchanging data through the information systems of public sector bodies.
  • Rules and standards for the registration, authentication and electronic identification of citizens and businesses to the online public sector services.
  • Procedures for the management of the Interoperability Registry for the registration of the services provided by public administration bodies.
