Estonian State Information System Office (RIA) announced a tender to find a partner for information activities on the e-residency project in the USA, Estonian economy and communications ministry announced LETA.

This is a pilot campaign, as the result of which Enterprise Estonia (EAS) wants to introduce e-residency to United States mainstream media channels and U.S. technology media channels with widespread distribution. The cost of the contract is up to 160,000 euros, inclusive of all taxes. The campaign will take place in the spring in 2016.

"We plan international outreach activities of e-residency to reach via US top media to potential e-residents and e-residency platform developers and service providers. With the first campaign, we test on pilot basis, how this approach works, and what outcomes it brings. If the results are successful, we copy the developed model in other target markets around the world," said the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications Undersecretary of State Information Systems Taavi Kotka.

The information campaign is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Currently, a total of over 3,500 people have applied for Estonia's e-residency and over 2,000 people have received the e-resident's digital ID. More than 18,000 e-potential residents have subscribed to the programme's information bulletin.

Estonia is the first country in the world, which, since December 2014, offers e-residency, which gives foreigners living abroad similar opportunities to operate in the Estonian e-environment and using e-services as Estonian residents do.
