Estonian Post reports that the number of users of its e-Invoicing Centre platform is increasing steadily, and after over two years of operation, the service is being used by hundreds of businesses and public sector agencies.

"Success of e-invoicing is speed and simplicity, in terms of both the transition to the new system and its use," said Head of Estonian Post Information Logistics Division Toomas Türk. "Mail and logistics related e-services development will surely be more interesting in coming years; new opportunities help companies to focus more on their core business."

E-invoicing electronic processing solutions, as well as receiving and digitalization of invoices presented in the old format are now used in dozens of state agencies - affiliated to the e-invoicing project of the Ministry of Finance. E-Invoicing Centre customers, in addition to private companies, also include local authorities such as Kuressaare, Saue and Jõgeva and several rural municipality governments. Larger enterprises include Electric Railways, Veho Estonia, and starting from 1st of July, Estonian energy company Eesti Energia.

The benefit comes primarily from the paper-free approval round, and entering invoices to the accounting system without any handwork.

"For business, the transition to e-invoicing is a small but important change, which leads to a reduction in handwork, data quality improvement, paperless approval round and electronic archives," said the manager of the E-invoicing Centre, Margus Tammeraja. "Progress is the same as with the transition to internet banking - a few joined in the first years, but now online banking is in use as standard by companies."

Estonian Post sees the greater transition to e-invoicing driven by operators themselves with additional services playing an important role in terms of incentives and the service being scalable. The Digitalising service is also linked to the E-Invoicing Centre which allows receiving invoices in traditional paper format, or PDF invoices as e-invoices. The E-Invoicing centre platform is also compatible with many business software programs, making the implementation of the solution quicker and easier to integrate.

The E-Invoicing Centre solution means that the sending of invoices complies with the Estonian Banking Association standard for up to 1000 private companies and more than 500 public sector agencies.
