Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs Maret Maripuu said that the approval creates the prerequisites for switching over step-by-step to the digital medical documents. “Now it depends on the service provider, Data Protection's permissions and technical preparedness,” the minister explained.
In the future, two e-health information systems will be launched: health info system and receipt centre, the ministry announced.
Maripuu added that testing the system will begin in September. This way we can avoid the technical or organizational problems, which may occur when launching the system, she said.
According to Maripuu, the final launch date is 2013.
