According to IZIP's statistics, the number of entries made in the EHRs increased from 20 376 234 (on 20 May 2011) to 24 593 956 (on 31 October 2011), a rise of more than 25 % in just five months. Thus more and more doctors are writing (and reading) in the electronic health records, producing a rapidly expanding database of valuable health information for doctors.
The recent increase in use of EZK has been particularly high in the two regions covered by the pilot project 'The quality of care - A2G', which began in September 2011. These two regions are Karlovy Vary (in the far west of the Czech Republic) and Vysočina (south central).
Since October 2011, up-to-date statistics for EZK have been displayed on IZIP's home page. An online counter shows the current number of customers, health professionals and medical facilities which are registered with EZK, as well as the total number of entries that have been made in the EHRs. Currently EZK is used by more than 20 500 health workers, more than half of hospitals and almost half of all pharmacies in the country.
Jiří Pašek, the head of IZIP, said: "Statistics show that the activity of registered doctors is constantly increasing - it's very good to see currently in the pilot regions, where in October not only the number of patient registrations, but also the number of records in EZK read by health professionals, rose by about 20 %. This means that thousands of records are read everyday, each providing a doctor with valuable information about patients."
