According to a government official plans for an e-government portal in Saudi Arabia are advanced, and an announcement will be made shortly.

Dr Mohammed Al-Suwaiyel, Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, has said that the e-government portal will include a transaction and billing engine to facilitate citizen payments to public agencies. There are currently more than 2 million internet users, out of a total population of 23 million.
