The Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing approved today, Feb. 7, the Smart City Strategy for the municipal and residential sector.

"The Smart City Strategy includes launching more than 50 initiatives in nine areas by 2030,” said Majid Al-Hogail, Minister of Municipal Affairs Rural Affairs and Housing.

"Through the strategy, we aim to transform the services of the municipal and residential sector into smart services through using the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) techniques," he added.

The strategy also aims to provide services that promote economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, and effective government supervision.

The strategy is based on three pillars, namely quality of life, excellence in providing services and financial sustainability.

The smart city sectors include intelligent control; smart parking; housing and smart community management; intelligent land and asset management systems; smart systems to improve the urban landscape and urban planning; smart systems to preserve the environment and dispose of waste; infrastructure management and smart maintenance; as well as intelligent disaster management.
