The Smart Provinces Summit was held on February 25th and 26th at the Hotel Al Khozama, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with more than 120 participants both local and global companies took place with detailed descriptive presentations of the future to come.

A research project envisioning future concepts, the success of The Smart Provinces Summit focussed on the current trends within the region in gathering the top functional sectors under one roof to discuss the snags, the developments to come and advancements with the assistance of innovative integrated technology, all of this to overcome and achieve smooth functionality within the supportive frame work to achieve a comfortable, informative and efficient lifestyle.

Two power packed days unfolded in Riyadh with all sectors looking to converge in harmony discussing the technicalities in the formation of Smart Provinces and detailed information exchange on the trends towards the future.

We had the following speakers discussing -

COMPLETE SMART city solutions through human centric intelligent society by connecting people information and infrastructure - by Aiham Al-Akhras from Fujitsu.

A detailed and practical insight on the sectors and planning that goes into smart cities formation - by Zane Sarraf.

For efficiency and lower cost the use of smart devices and smart metering systems are a great solution when all networks are connected, explained - by Mr. Moufid Charafidine from Hudoud

Continuing the great speaker line up

We had Mr Fahad Alhezayen on the importance of networks and E governance in assisting people.

Dr Abdulaziz Aldusari spoke about Riyadh techno valley and it's evolvement into a smart city.

Mr. Mohammed Serroukh addressed great insights out of research with a very interesting presentation on intelligent transport systems and its availability and use in the region.

A city can be considered 'smart' when there are investments, participatory action and engagements in areas such as social and economic development, Transport modernization, implementation and integration of modern (ICT) communication for a secure infrastructure, Fuel sustainable economic development, wise management of natural resources, introduction of smart grids and metering systems to reduce energy losses.

The conference offered a perfect gateway to reach a highly focused and prequalified customer ¬base to provide excellent networking opportunities. Solution providers such as Fujitsu, Hudoud, Geodan, Bentley, Ecobam and ACES presented their expertise at the conference.

On the first session of Day 2 of the Summit:

We had Mr. Waleed Jomah from PME discussing the Utilization of GIS in planning followed by Using E-Health concepts to integrate healthcare with other governmental and nongovernmental institute services (Case Studies in emergency services using drones for immediate support) by Mostafa Omaish Health Informatician from Royal Clinic of the Custodian of the two holy mosques.

Mr. Emad Alrajih, GM Railway & Metro (AICC) discussed the development of railways and the integration of smart technologies in railway systems.

The session continued with more information on E- Healthcare and its advantages presented by Musfer Mohammed Al Shalawi after which there were intensive networking and business meeting sessions with focused clientele.

The conference saw interactive sessions, thought provoking debates, real life case studies and panel discussions which highlighted the current trends and challenges being faced by the Saudi Market with respect to developing a smart province.

The last session began with the discussion beginning with Eng. Mohammed Alhaj Hussein, Board member and Head of Research SGBC presenting Infrastructural Development of Upcoming Economic Cities with the use of local Natural Pozzolan in Green Concrete.

Dr Al-Motrif, Sr ICT consultant, Ministry of Higher Education, CEO New Thinkers discussed E- Education and its Scope with The need for Smart Campuses and Buildings.

From SASIA we had Mr Rockwell Browning discussing the need for developing the scope for use of renewable solar Energy and finally Mr Haffezur Rahman discussed Power Transmission and its development with interesting case studies from Jubail Industrial Region.

The summit was a great platform with informative topics and a great panel of local and international speakers not forgetting the media support bringing awareness within the region.
