The Ministry of Health is currently completing its e-health system which will link all government hospitals, provide unified information on patients’ medical histories and facilitate communication with patients, said Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeah, Minister of Health.

Al-Rabeah was speaking at a forum of the Federation of Arab Hospitals and Council of Arab Ministers of Health in Amman, Jordan.

“Through this project, the patient’s medical history will be electronically available. This will allow doctors to get acquainted with a patient’s medical file; and we can document the medical and radiology reports and comments of doctors. A patient can therefore continue his treatment at any of the Kingdom’s hospitals.”

He said government is continually upgrading the health sector. A total of 249 hospitals have been built and 125 others are under construction to create 36,000 beds. Government wants 66,000 beds in the future. He said the Ministry of Health is making good progress in terms of health insurance. As for home care, the ministry prioritizes the health of mothers and their children, said the minister.
