With Saudi Arabia making substantial investment in developing their e-Government services, the 2nd annual Kingdom eGovernment Summit drew interest from a number of the Kingdom's Government sectors.

The event's official opening speech was delivered by Eng Ali Al-Soma, Director General of the e-Government Program 'Yesser' - who supported the initiative in Riyadh that ended today.

During his speech, Eng Ali announced the achievements of the first e-Government plan and shed light on the vision for their second blueprint.

Commenting on the extended support by Yesser, Eng Ali remarked: "The Government of Saudi Arabia has attributed much focus on developing and implementing new e-Government related projects to facilitate services for citizens and businesses in the Kingdom. We aim to raise the public sector's productivity and efficiency through implementing relevant projects using the latest technologies."

The two-day summit provided a platform for leading national and international technology companies to showcase their cutting-edge innovations.

"e-Government programs are implemented under the strong leadership of the Government On-Line Advisory Panel, which consists of representatives from the public, private, and academic organisations. I believe such events will provide great contributions to the development of the Kingdom." said Mohammad Mubarah, e-Government Project Manager and Secretary of the Commission on e-Government, at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

More than 250 participants attended over the course of the two days, which was organised and hosted by leading business information company naseba.

When asked about the initiative, naseba Managing Director Sales and Marketing Nic Watson commented: "We appreciate the support of Yesser, and all the Government representatives who attended the summit and shared their valuable experiences. Overall, the event has been a great success and we look forward to the next edition."
