The e-Government Program 'Yesser' has extended its support to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia e-Government Summit. The event is organised by Naseba, a business information company, and will take place during June 6th - 7th at Radisson Blu (SAS) in Riyadh.

Director General of Yesser, Eng Ali Al-Soma will be delivering the opening speech at the summit.

He stated "The Government of Saudi Arabia has attributed much focus on developing and implementing new e-Government related projects to facilitate the services provided towards citizens and businesses in the Kingdom. We aim to raise the public sector productivity and efficiency through implementing the relevant e-Government projects using latest technologies. We believe that this summit will provide and showcase the latest trends in the IT industry and throwing light on the cutting-edge technologies dedicated e-Government."

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is considered one of the largest Information Technology (IT) markets in the Middle East where investments in the ICT market are expected to reach to SR37bn by 2013 and to further increase to SR50bn by 2015 according to Saudi Arabian government officials.

With Saudi Arabia currently investing heavily to develop e-Government services, the timing of the upcoming 2nd Annual Saudi e-Government Summit in Riyadh could not be more appropriate. The strategic initiative is hosting up to 100 Government officials and 20 of the leading IT solution providers, including Gartner, Accenture, Symantec, EMC and Mahindra Satyam.

Commenting on the current expenditure in the IT market, Executive Manager of Ever Team Arabia Tony Azzi said, "The current Economic climate has impacted spending in many countries and sectors, but not in Saudi Arabia and especially not in government spending. It is true that decision making has become more lengthy and cautious providing the geo-political situation in the Middle East, however we believe that the increased emphasis on government transparency and efficiency which correlates with decreased corruption, will positively impact the spending on comprehensive e-Government solutions and services."

"The Department of Zakat and Income Tax, (DZIT) has partnered with Ever Team Arabia to build a unified Document Management and Portal Solution based on the EverSuite platform. This strategic Enterprise Content Management (ECM) project is considered one of the most strategic e-Government projects in Saudi Arabia, and very closely monitored by the YESSER e-Government Program" Azzi added.

The e-Government Program - Yesser was officially launched in 2005 when the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology started in conjunction with Ministry of Finance and the Communication and Information Technology Commission (CITC) establishing it as a joint program. The role of Yesser is to motivate and enable government agencies to implement and offer e-Services within the relevant government infrastructure, implementation plans and policies and specs for joint e-government projects.
