The Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce (CSCC)on Saturday signed an agreement to implement online governmental activities with the director general of Yusr, a program run by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

According to the agreement, Yusr will link electronically the chamber's offices in the Kingdom to various government offices.

CSCC Chairman Saleh Al-Turki and Director General of the Yusr program Ali Al-Sama signed the agreement to implement the project, which is entitled Qanat Al-Takamul (Channel of Integration), at the ministry's headquarter. "The project is part of the efforts of the CSCC to implement the concept of e-governance in the chamber's offices, and offer quality service to members and clients," Al-Turki said in a press statement following the agreement's signing.

Al-Turki added that the project, which would operate with the help of the government, would enable the CSCC and other chamber offices to share information with government departments and speed up its customer services.

"The CSCC participation in the national program of this magnitude is proof of its sustained efforts for acquiring latest technology to serve its members," Al-Turki said. The implementation of the project would speed up services such as confirming the identity of a person, and ascertaining certain facts and exchange of information.

There is also a proposal to facilitate the endorsement of documents electronically.
