Speaking after the formal opening of the second National Conference on E-Health, Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported Muqrin as saying: “If there is a failure in the implementation of the e-governance, it is not the system that is responsible but some bureaucrats who do not want efficiency and achievements.”
The planned improvements in e-governance are intended to simplify the formalities of government services and minimise the burden of the Kingdom’s people. Murqin added that with the implementation of the e-health system and the assigning of numbers to each citizen’s health card, healthcare would be sped up and billions of riyals would be saved.
Hussain Al-Jazairi, regional director of the World Health Organization for the Middle East, was also present at the conference. He said that the major problem the region currently faced in merging everyone’s electronic health files was the lack of co-operation between countries, and appealed to the related authorities to prepare a relevant organized structure for e-health in each country.
