A two-day empowerment camp to assist deepen the information technology (IT) skills of over 20 scholarship beneficiaries of the John A. Kufour Foundation (JAKF) has been held at Kwame Danso in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
It was organized by Vodafone Ghana Foundation, the charity arm of Vodafone Ghana, one of the major players in the nation’s telecommunications industry.
The students were taught how to apply technological solutions to challenges in healthcare, agriculture, education, banking e-governance and traffic control.
They were also exposed to the enormous economic and social benefits of information technology.
Added to this, was the introduction to some technological innovations of Vodafone including the instant schools platform
Mr. Ebenezer Amankwah, Corporate Relations Manager of Vodafone Ghana, underlined the unwavering determination of the company to help empower the youth and to inspire them to have passion for excellence.
It would continue to be associated with efforts at nurturing the young people into responsible future leaders through mentorship.
“We are excited to share our wealth of experience and knowledge with the future leaders of our society”, he stated.
The telecommunication company through its Foundation, has since year 2009, been supporting sustainable initiatives to drive social change, improve people’s lives and tackle pressing social needs.
Professor Baffour Agyeman-Duah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JAKF, expressed appreciation to Vodafone for supporting the initiative of mentoring the youth to become change agents in society.
