Rlg Institute of Technology has deepened its collaboration with government to widen the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in basic schools across the country.

With emphasis on rural schools, Rlg is training and providing free laptops to teachers in deprived communities.

In the Northern Region, Rlg provided 3,609 laptops to the Northern Regional education directorate for onward distribution to teachers from some selected schools.

At the official launch and distribution of the laptops in Tamale, Rlg’s Northern Regional Manager in charge of training, Jumah Thomas said 7,325 teachers were equipped with techniques and skills on ICT.

He cautioned the beneficiaries against keeping the laptops for their personal use.

Jumah Thomas asked them to use the laptops for the intended purpose.

He encouraged them to always establish contact with Rlg Technology Institute for further tutelage on ICT.

Northern Regional Education Directorate, Paul Apamga showed appreciation for the support.

He however requested for more to cover the entire teacher population in the region.

Mr. Apamga said Rlg’s intervention was in line with government’s strategy to make ICT education accessible to all school children regardless of their geographical locations.

He suggested that emphasis should be placed on Junior High School students in the region.

In his estimation, the Junior High School students will by extension impart the knowledge on their siblings at the basic level.

Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini described digital revolution as the hallmark of every nation’s socio-economic development.

This, he said informed government’s intention to commit more resources for ICT education.

The Sagnarigu constituency Legislator commended teachers for their pivotal role in nation building.

He thus pleaded with teachers especially those in rural communities to live beyond reproach.

He further tasked the regional education directorate to post adequate qualified teachers to the hinterlands.

Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini supported calls on Rlg to extend the support to all teachers in the region.

Some of the recipients extolled Rlg and promised to put the laptops to good use.
