The Rockefeller Foundation and the World Bank announced a $3.8 million grant to the Ghanaian government to support the establishment of world class facilities that will attract IT and IT enabled firms, including Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms to Ghana and creates jobs for Ghanaian youth.
Mr. Umar said in an interview that the project is expected to complete in the next six months. He also indicated that the facility which would be centered in Accra will have the potential of accommodating corporate organizations and also offer them quality and reliable internet services.
Talking about the Ghana’s ICT Policy, the Director for IT Enabled Services also revealed that the Government ICT Policy for Accelerated Development is to undergo a review. The review comes at a time when the country’s technological development has over the years witnessed an appreciable growth with governments ministries, departments and agencies been rolled onto the e-governance platform to promote transparency and accountability.
Mr. Umar said a lot had been achieved under the e governance project and it about time the country then review it policy on ICT to incorporate all sectors of the economy including both the private and the public sector.
