Mr. Eric Akumiah, President of the Society, said this was the surest way to build a knowledge-based society and aid Ghana to become competitive on the global market.
It is estimated that only 5.2 per cent of the country’s population has regular access to the internet.
Mr. James Adjami is the President of the eight-member executive, with Ms Audrey Opoku-Amankwaah, as Vice-President, Ms Hannah Kumah, Secretary, and Mr. Ainoo Dauda, Financial Controller.
Mr. Akumiah said ICT was a powerful tool, deployed globally to advance the cause of mankind and spoke of how useful it had been to commerce, medicine, immigration, security, education and the other sectors.
Ghana as a developing nation had no choice but to aggressively promote ICT to transform the economy.
He urged the newly- elected officers to remain focused and work hard to achieve their set goals.
Mr. Adjamli said their immediate priority was to embark on a sustained membership drive to bring in more people, particularly students in tertiary institutions.
