In a brief presentation on e-Parliament, Anthony Bediako, director for Strategy and Architecture, defined e-Parliament as a legislature empowered to be more transparent, accessible and accountable through Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Mr Bediako said e-Parliament would simplify the work flow of Parliamentarians, increase administrative efficiency and improve information access and dissemination.
Mr Bediako said, making the e-parliament a well established entity would require infrastructure such as internet access, parliamentary websites, local area network and communication between citizens and Parliament.
He entreated Members of Parliament to have an attitudinal change towards ICT and embrace the e-Parliament project and to make the manual way of executing their workloads a thing of the past.
He named other e-government application project as tax application, e-immigration, e-justice and e-procurement that would also make work easier for the development of the nation
Mr Bediako expressed the hope that Ghana would be able to use ICT in all aspect of her development within the next 20 to 50 years.
