The exercise is to help reduce the numerous complaints from clients in respect of their National Health Insurance identity cards.
The Corporate Affairs Manager of the National Health Insurance Authority, Winfred Agbedzivor announced this at the official inauguration of the Ashanti Regional office of the Authority in Kumasi.
The facility was constructed at cost of 700 thousand Ghana Cedis and took eight months to complete. According to Mr. Agbedzivor, the passage of the Health Insurance Act has brought about significant changes to the scheme.
They include the introduction of ICT infrastructure clinical audit and a NHIS Call Centre. He hoped that with the provision of a new office in Kumasi, staff will show a new attitude to work and use new approaches to serve clients.
The Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Yaw Adusei said the National Health Insurance Scheme has become sustainable because it has gone through a lot of reforms under the new Health Insurance Act.
He said service providers have been paid their claims up to February this year.
Otumfuo’s Manwerehene, Baffour Ossei Hyeaman Brantuo urged staff at the Regional NHIA office to work assiduously to address challenges in respect of the scheme.
The Deputy Regional Director in charge of Procurement, Sam Buabasah said currently district NHIA offices are operating from rented premises, adding that efforts are being made for them to have their own offices.
