Transforming Government since 2001
The Caretaker Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Sherry Aryittey has disclosed that government is in the process of adopting the use of technology in healthcare delivery especially in rural areas.

The E-Health system, according to the Minister will facilitate the efficient and prompt delivery of health care without compromising on quality.

Speaking at a workshop organised by CSIR to deliberate on the Global impact study on Public Access to Information Communication Technology, Sherry Aryittey, observed the new technology when implemented will further strengthen Ghana’s Health sector.

“The government is thinking of adopting E-health in certain areas to strengthen health delivery to the rural community. This means the use if ICTs will be used in the health delivery sector where we think a proper database can cut the number of hours people spend in hospitals,” she stated.

Madam Aryittey further explained, “With a proper database, a doctor can bring your profile and within 30 minutes to an hour, you should be out of the hospital. I believe that one of the things that drive quality health delivery is technology.”
