The laying of fibre optic cable from Moleson Creek to Anna Regina will be inter-linked with the Georgetown to Lethem cable and will provide different wireless broadband technology service. E- Government Project Manager, Alexie Ramotar explained that the original design for the infrastructure was changed from Wimax to Long Term Evolution technology.

Ramotar noted that Chinese engineers are in the country conducting site location for the construction of towers to support LTE technology.

They gonna start rolling out the project in a geographical manner so places we expect to see quick roll out will be Linden because the fibre will be running through there and they will have access immediately there, then Georgetown and then we will go on the West Coast Vreed-en-Hoop.”

The Long Term Evolution technology LTE is design to support roaming internet access via cellphones and other handheld devices.
