Students of the University of Cape Coast have shown that with the appropriate measures, Ghana could successfully begin using the electronic system of voting to end the perpetual allegations of vote rigging and post-election violence.

The students demonstrated this when they used the E-voting system during their 2011 SRC elections which unlike previous years ended without any post-election controversies.

Some Ghanaians have strongly advocated for the use of Biometric E-voting machines to become a part of Ghana’s elections. They believe that the E-voting system will end the perpetual allegations of rigging, double voting and violence which usually characterize the elections in the country.

Students of the University of Cape Coast have shown that if well organized, E-voting could be the solution to some of Ghana’s electoral challenges.

The 2011 SRC elections of the University were conducted using the E-voting system and for the first time in a long while, there were no agitations when the results were declared.

According to the students, the E-voting system gave little room for cheating.
