Forum focuses on different issues

The Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) launched Monday the e-government forum entitled, “Recent Trends, Security Risks and Implementation Challenges”, at the Marriott Courtyard. The forum, which will continue until Nov 13, is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al- Hamad Al-Sabah. It was inaugurated by Communications Minister and CAIT Chairman Issa Ahmed Al-Kandari. Addressing those who attended the inauguration ceremony, Al-Kandari said, “We hope the e-government program will allow government agencies to efficiently provide services to the people of Kuwait. Our goal includes helping the decision-makers to develop their national strategies in various fields.” The forum is aimed at generating modernization opportunities for Kuwait, its organizations and its people, as it focuses on different issues related to the e-government program and challenges like information security hazards.

The development of the Government Electronic Messaging System aims to provide electronic document interchange service among government organizations. It is a government- to-government (G2G) service that ensures safe document interchange. CAIT continues to take initiatives to achieve its goals in coordination with other government agencies. The active and valuable participation of companies and specialists to cover the topics, along with the latest technologies displayed in the exhibition on the sidelines of the forum, are part of CAIT’s mission.

Meanwhile, General Manager Marzook Khaled Al-Marzook of NoufExpo - one of the organizers of the forum - clarified this is the first business activity of the company. “Organizing the e-government forum is our contribution to this effort that will be continued by NoufExpo and Al-Marzook Group,” he said. Due to the numerous changes in the Information Technology (IT) sector, as well as the methods and ways to collect, analyze and use personal information; IT security has become the main concern of many service providers and users. These developments have clearly led to quantum leaps in the IT industry, telecom and information networks; notably the Internet which is the concern of the entire world. The primary purpose of the e-government program is to provide services to citizens in a more efficient manner. These include increase in the number of channels, less operation costs and innovation to serve. The forum also discussed the need to classify personal information and challenges in terms of consolidating the government database.
