The government has decided to offer e-services in telecentres, which are going to be established in the rural areas of the country.
Anusha Rahman, Minister of State for IT and Telecom, chaired a meeting on Wednesday regarding the establishment of telecentres in the country’s rural areas.
During the meeting it was decided that telecentres would offer several e-services to facilitate people living in far flung areas. It would also create local employment and entrepreneurship opportunities and extend broadband to provide distance education and ICT literacy. Secretary IT Akhlaq Tarrar, senior officials from the USF and Nadra attended the meeting.
