The Sindh police department has decided to install a biometric system at all police offices across the province to ensure the attendance of officers and oust any ghost employees.

This decision was taken during a meeting at the Central Police Office here on Tuesday, which was chaired by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari.

The IGP constituted a five-member committee comprising Director Information Technology Sindh Tabassum Abid, SSP Muhafiz Colonel (retd) Wahid, the AIG Establishment, the AIG Administration and the AIG Tele.

The committee will present its report within 15 days about the installation of the biometric system at units and central levels. The IGP directed the committee to install the biometric system initially at all training institutes, police headquarters, Sindh Reserve Police offices and Rapid Response Force offices, and later at police offices.

He also constituted another committee, led by the DIG Establishment, to compile the computerised data of all police officers and personnel in the province. He directed the officials to formally introduce human resource software in this regard. He asked the officers to take possible steps for the upgradation of computerised data on all employees of the police department.
