Digital connectivity has improved as organisations invest in improving consumer experience

Digitisation is one of the key buzzwords in the post-Covid world. From online shopping for basic commodities to the digitisation of banking transactions, Pakistan has shifted towards an online mode.

The pandemic has revealed the real potential of digital payments and mobile wallets and the current environment provides an excellent opportunity for fintechs to operate and ramp up their contribution to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth.

Since 2018 the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Performance, Management and Reforms Unit (PMRU) has been able to accumulate a vast and organized data base of the most recurring and acute problem in issues faced by the citizens in the province through the portal and other E-Governance initiatives.

The KP Citizen portal App currently connects more than 1700 offices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Since last 19 months, more than 237,000 complaints have been lodged through this app predominantly against four departments which include Local Government/ Municipal Services, Education, Health, Law & Order / Police. The PMRU also maintains a complete log of the process/ actions taken by various offices on each complaint / task assigned to departments in district administration.

Rubbishing the opposition’s politicking on steps proposed under “security apparatus” for Gwadar city, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Wednesday assured that no strategy would be enforced there without consultation and against people’s desire.

The chief minister, in a video statement, said that outside Gwadar City, there were some areas which could not be humanely checked or controlled owing to their inaccessibility, so a “temporary fencing mechanism” was proposed under Gwadar Smart City project.

The increasing digitization of life has brought about drastic transformation in socio-cultural and economic landscape of Pakistan during the last two decades with exponential growth in use of electronic gadgets and tools of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs).

Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed launched E-Bidding system in National Highway Authority today that will pave the way to ensure transparency in process of award of contracts of NHA schemes. To this effect, a simple ceremony was held at NHA head office addressed by Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services Mr. Murad Saeed, Secretary Communications Mr. Zafar Hasan and Chairman NHA Capt ® Sikander Qayyum. Senior officers of Ministry of Communications and National Highway Authority were also present.
