Transforming Government since 2001

“E-government agency is expected to start working at the beginning of 2016,” said Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Rumyana Bachvarova, speaking with journalists in Bulgaria’s second-biggest city of Plovdiv during the opening of a business forum themed Outsourcing Destination Bulgaria 2015, Radio FOCUS reported.

Bachvarova said the establishment of the agency was a matter of the Electronic Government Act.

“This is an expression of our understanding we should complete the model of building e-government, which was decentralised, and we have to admit it does not produce satisfactory results. Now, each institution, each government level, including the local authorities, develops its own projects led by the desire to modernise its administration but being distant from the so much needed common standard of building information systems and better communication between them,” Bachvarova stated.

The senior official hopes the flaws will be dealt with as the e-government agency will give priority in its work to common standards and the infrastructure the state and local administration need to be build to provide services and communicate with business.
