Serbian Minister of Telecommunications and Information Society Jasna Matic said today that web domains of state institutions will be changed from sr.gov.yu into sr.gov.rs on November 1 and announced that the E-government will be set up next year.

At a press conference on the first 100 days of government’s office, Matic said that the Ministry will announce next year a tender on the public procurement of the E-authority establishment service, which will enable government sessions to be held electronically.

She pointed out that a public debate on the development of telecommunications services is to start next year, which will enable digital TV and radio broadcasting, instead of the current analogue one, before 2015.

Speaking about the Ministry’s achievements, Matic pointed out that liberalisation of the web market has already started.

She stressed that a demonopolisation of internet connection is being prepared, which will enable even more qualitative access to the global information technology network and a decrease of web costs.

Matic recalled that the government decided to set up the wireless telephone system CDMA for rural areas and added that the government is preparing to set up vimax wireless communication of high quality, enabling broadband internet.

According to her, due to the Ministry’s initiative, the law on the postal services and postal agency establishment, which is to enable better services to Serbia’s citizens, is currently in parliament’s procedure.
