Thanks to the electronic identity card ‘lisign’ it will be easier for its holders to carry out their administrative transactions with the Liechtenstein National Administration. Citizens will not only be able to sign applications electronically, quicker and safer, but also identify themselves online and use the new services.

From now on, the online forms of the state government can be completed in a faster way, since once logged in with lisign (by inserting the card and entering the PIN) the user’s personal and communication data will automatically appear in the forms.

Through ‘lisign’ users can order extracts from judicial records immediately and from anywhere via the Internet, in an electronically safe way. Even land register extracts can be ordered online and can be available in an electronic and certified format. Furthermore, users can manage their personal data and contact details, such as their email address, which can be saved centrally. Short videos showing how to use these services can be found at the state administration portal anleitungen.llv.li.

In order for the card holders to be able to use an electronic signature and identify themselves, a card with a chip is required. This can either be the Liechtenstein identity card or the residence card; for foreigners without a residence permit, a neutral card can be used. However, it needs to be noted at this point that cards will not be automatically issued with a chip. Therefore, if an ID or a residence card is to be issued by the Immigration and Passport Office, then the perspective card holder needs to specifically ask for a card containing a chip and a 'lisign' function.
