The Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources has begun the implementation of its e MlPR-projects to deliver fast, accurate, efficient and business friendly on-line services for investors, entrepreneurs and businesses.

A contract signing ceremony for four e-MIPR projects between the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources and three local IT companies, ITIS Wescot Technology Sdn BM, e-Suria Mentari Systems Sdn Bhd and AV Electronics Sdn Bhd was held. The guest of honour was Haji Mohd Hamid bin Haji Mohd Jaafar, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources.

Also present were Haji Mohd Zain Haji Abd Ghafar, Director of Brunei Industrial Development Authority (BINA), Pg Hajah Mariana Pg Dipa Negara-Laila Diraja Pg Haji Abdul Momin, Acting Director ofAgriculture, Hajah Hasnah Ibrahim, Acting Director of Fisheries and Haji Shahrill Haji Shabuddin, Acting Director of Forestry.

The e-MIPR projects are for the supply, delivery, installation, development, testing and maintenance of the network infrastructure for the Agriculture Department, Forestry Department, Fisheries Department and Brunei Industrial Development Authority (BINA).

Representing -MIPR was Haji Ahmad Baihaki POKDGSLDSU Haji Mohd Taha, Senior Administrative Officer of the Ministry.

ITIS Wescot Technology was represented by its Managing Director, C. T. Lim.

e-Suria Mentari Systems Sdn Bhd was represented by Sulaiman Haji Mahmud, the company's business development director.

AV Electronics Sdn Bhd was represented by Karim Haji Asmat, Managing Director.

The ceremony was also attended by MIPR senior officers and staff and senior executives and officers of the local IT companies.

The projects involve the establishment of the local area networks (LAN) infrastructure connecting the department's headquarters and its site offices in a secured virtual private network (VPN).

To date five e-MIPR projects, namely network - infrastructures for Agriculture department, Forestry, Department, Fisheries Department, Brunei Industrial Development Authority (BINA) and the Ministry's IT Centre, have been approved by the State Tender Board.

Overseeing the implementation of the projects is the MIPR's e-Government Implementation Committee.
