Dr Jim Tam, Associate Prof School of IT Management Ryerson Polytechnic University in Ontario, Canada, disclosed this yesterday in an exclusive interview with Radio Television Brunei (RTB). He said that e-Government also contributes to the improvement of the quality and efficiency of the services delivered to the citizens and the customers through interactive, network information and communication technologies.
Knowing what e-Government is and how it works is just a starting point, he added.
According to him, the implementation and investment of e-Government in Brunei would facilitate not only for a more effective government but also for the return of investment in manifold.
Prof Jim Tam was instrumental in setting up a number of computer standards working committees for the government of Canada. He is currently in Brunei.
To achieve e-government goals, he said, issues such as e-government programs are needed to monitor, evaluate and assess with extra cautious in order to avoid any future complication.
The deadline for the implementation of the e-Government initiative in the Sultanate is 2005.
To date, several e-projects have been completed.
