A signing ceremony was held yesterday afternoon between the e-Government National Centre (EGNC), Prime Minster's Office and Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) at the Empire Hotel and Country Club.

The landmark agreement was reached where EGNC would house BSP Disaster Recovery System at the department's Data Centre facility.

The signing of the agreement was witnessed by Awang Haji Azhar bin Hj Ahmad, Deputy Permanent Secretary (IT and E-Government) at the Prime Ministers Office and as Brunei Overall Government Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Signing on behalf of EGNC was Awang Adi Shamsul bin Haji Sabli, Director of e-Government National Centre, while Awang Haji Malai Anwar bin Haji Syed Ahmad Hussein, Information Manager signed on behalf of BSP.

The Disaster Recovery System is part of BSP's business continuity plan to protect its business transactions and operations from any disruptive event or disaster that might happen in the future.

Also in attendance were EGNC and BSP Senior Officers and staff.

E-Government National Centre, a department under the Prime Minister's Office, in its role to implement initiatives according to the e-Government Strategic Plan 2009-2014 not only strives to modernise the civil service and improve public service delivery by providing citizen centric e-services; but is also playing a part in the economic development of the nation by helping companies to safeguard their digital assets against any future disaster or crisis.
