As part of the e-Government project under RKN 9, the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBAF) are venturing into an Advance Records Management System at a cost of $3,958,000. It is due to be completed in 12 months.

The signing ceremony between the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam represented by SAC Hj Majid bin Hj Awang Damit and Mr Louis Lim Ching Tong, Director of Administration and Finance, representing ITIS Wescot Technology Sdn Bhd, was held yesterday at the RBAF Headquarters in Gadong.

A representative of ITIS Wescot Technology Sdn Bhd said that the objective of this project is to automate current manual processes in the RBAF.

He added that the new system will "provide high quality information readily and efficiently to support informed decision-making, evaluation and planning as well as to enhance control and effectiveness of the overall police services and communications".

Mr Hoi Chong said, "This will also support the e-Government initiatives through a web-based and open architecture, which allows more efficient interaction between the Royal Brunei Police Force and other agencies."

Present to witness the signing ceremony was Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Haji Hasrin bin Dato Paduka Hj Sabtu, Acting Commissioner of Royal Brunei Police Force in his capacity as the guest of honour.
