The e-Government National Centre, EGNC, has signed a master contract with several I.T. Companies on the centralised procurement of I.T. Equipment. With this master contract, ministries and departments can now procure I.T. equipment directly from the awarded IT companies based on the agreed fixed price without having to go through quotations or tenders.

Signing on behalf of the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam was the Director Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Ahmad and witnessed by Senior Special Duties Officer at the Prime Minister's Office, Awang Sairul Rhymin bin Haji C.A. Mohamed and representatives from the awarded companies. Five appointed companies for the supply of IT equipment are Unitek Company, B.S.Syscom (B) Sendirian Berhad, ZNet Technologies, Elite Computer Systems Sendirian Berhad and Ishajaya Technologies.

According to the Director of the e-Government National Centre,Awang Azhar bin Hj Ahmad, the contract period will be three years for leasing and two years for outright purchase. Any ministry or department wishing to buy the equipment can contact the appointed companies directly using their own plan or the National Development Programme funds for e-government.

The I.T. equipment that will be supplied through outright purchase are Printers and Scanners, while equipment such as desktop PC, tablet PC and notebook will be provided on lease. With this master contract in place, it is hoped that the process of procuring IT equipment can further be improved to cater to the needs of the government, and to standardise the usage of IT equipment and systems within the government. The department concerned will disseminate information on procedures and use of the master contract to ministries and departments.
