The early analysis conducted by experts at the United Nations recently found that the e-Government Services for Brunei Darussalam is at the developing level in view of the fact that services online are non-existent. According to the Deputy Permanent Secretary of IT and e-Government at the Prime Minister's Office, Awang Abdul Mutalib in his capacity as the overall government CIO, the e-Government National Centre gives priority to identifying and implementing any services online that will be provided to the public.
Awang Abdul Mutalib said that in the short term plan which is from 2009 until 2014, at the end of 2014 it is hoped that the EGNC would have reached their target of at least 100 services online as stressed upon in the e-Government Strategic Plan. It is also hoped that with partnerships from experts in the private sector, there will be at least an average of 2 online services per month beginning from this month onwards. This will be monitored through the CIO dialogues where there has been a mandate to hold a formal monthly dialogue among CIO's.
