According to Permanent Secretary (Youth and Sports) Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Hamid Hj Mohd Jaafar, all the officials and staff of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports who had gone through the E-Government programme are now well-equipped by being able to conduct activities and deliver services more effectively through electronic means or "online".
"This certainly improves the quality of our services to outside agencies as well as the public," he said. "We must keep abreast of ICT developments and always make sure that the quality of service provided to a customer increases as time passes."
Towards this end, Hj Mohd Hamid urged ministries and departments to always update their websites with the latest information to ensure a more user-friendly access.
"QCC can be designed to ensure successful and effective support from top management," said the permanent secretary.
This convention aims to look for more efficient working methods through research conducted by the senior officers within the Ministry's departments before proceeding to a national level with other ministries.
All of the participating six teams were expected to come up with working papers on problems and solutions faced by their respective departments who are also the finalists from each department.
Team Aktiaa from the Language and Literature Bureau Library in the Temburong district won first place with their topic, "Low Participation in School Holiday Activities in the Temburong District" and took home a sum of $1,000.
Team Lagenda of the Community Development Department came in second place, winning a sum of $700 with their presentation called 'Resolving problems due to old age pension recipients who were not resident in the NBD" while Team Efektif, also from the Language and Literature Bureau, came in third.
The contestants were judged on their presentation skills, accuracy of information, possible solutions to problems and team work.
