Transforming Government since 2001
Brunei has climbed up 19 places in the e-Government Development ranking to 68th position in 2010 from 87th spot in 2008, according to the 2010 United Nations e-Government Survey which was completed in December 2009 and released recently this month.

The considerable leap in ranking reflects the pace of progress in the Brunei’s e-Government initiatives to build ICT infrastructure, deliver electronic services and developing human resource capacities and capabilities within the country.

The main aim of the 2010 UN Global e-Government Readiness survey is to assess 192 UN member states in terms of their use of information and communication technologies to serve and interact with citizens. The overall index includes a web measure index, a telecommunication infrastructure index and a human capital index.

The top 10 countries in the 2010 e-Government Development Index are Republic of Korea, USA, Canada, UK and Northern Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Australia, Spain and France.

The data for 2010 survey is available on the UN e-Government Development website www.unpan.org/egovkb.
